Who we are#
@Work is made by Tom Wheatley, a sole trader in the United Kingdom, trading as @Work (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at support@useatwork.com.
These terms apply when you download or use the @Work app, or create an @Work account. By doing either, you agree to them. Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal data.
What @Work is#
@Work is a desktop app for Mac and Windows for logging working time, completing timesheets and tracking leave. It works on its own, without an account. An optional account lets you sync your data between your computers.
@Work is free. If we ever introduce paid features, we’ll tell you clearly before you’re asked to pay anything. Nothing you already use for free will start charging without you choosing to pay.
Your licence to use the app#
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use @Work on computers you own or control. You can use it for your own work, including at your job.
You must not:
- copy, sell, rent or redistribute the app, except to share our official download link
- reverse engineer, decompile or try to extract its source code, except where the law allows you to
- remove or change any notices of ownership
- use the app to build a competing product
@Work, its design and its name belong to us. These terms don’t transfer any of that to you.
Your account#
- You need to be 16 or older to create an account.
- Give an email address you control, and keep your password, passkey and computers secure. You’re responsible for what happens in your account.
- Tell us straight away at support@useatwork.com if you think someone else has accessed it.
- If you sign in with Google or Microsoft, their terms also apply to that sign-in.
Your data#
Everything you enter in @Work, your content, stays yours. You give us permission to store and copy your content only as far as we need to sync it between your computers and run the service. We don’t use it for anything else. Our privacy policy gives the details.
You can download everything stored for your account from Settings in the app, and delete the account at any time on your account page. Deleting your account removes your data from our server. Data on your computers stays until you remove it.
Keep your own backups. @Work backs up your data on your computer automatically and lets you save a backup anywhere. But sync isn’t a backup: our nightly server backups exist to recover the service from a fault, not to restore individual entries for you. Before relying on @Work for anything important, such as pay, leave entitlements or timesheets you’re obliged to submit, check the figures and keep your own copies.
Using @Work properly#
Please don’t:
- break the law, or anyone else’s rights, using @Work
- try to get into accounts or data that aren’t yours
- probe, overload or interfere with our servers, for example with automated requests, scraping or attempts to get around rate limits
- upload malicious code, or use the service to store content unrelated to your working time
If you find a security problem, please tell us at support@useatwork.com rather than exploiting it.
Suspending or closing accounts#
We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or to protect other users or the service. Unless the law or a security risk prevents it, we’ll tell you why and give you the chance to download your data first.
You can stop using @Work and delete your account whenever you like.
Updates and availability#
We update @Work to fix problems, improve security and add features. The app checks for updates automatically unless you turn that off, and some updates may be needed to keep sync working.
We aim to keep the sync service running, but it’s provided without a guarantee of availability. We may change or withdraw features. If we ever close the sync service, we’ll give at least 60 days’ notice on this website and in the app where we can, so you can download your data. The app itself will keep working on your computer without it.
Our responsibility to you#
We provide @Work with reasonable care and skill. We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill.
We are not responsible for:
- losses that weren’t foreseeable when you started using @Work
- business losses, such as lost profit, revenue, contracts or business opportunity, since @Work is provided for free
- figures you didn’t check before relying on them, such as timesheets, pay or leave balances
- data loss you could have avoided by keeping backups, as described above
- problems caused by your computer, your network, or services we don’t control
Nothing in these terms limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so. That includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Changes to these terms#
We may update these terms, for example when @Work changes or the law does. We’ll change the date at the top. If a change materially affects you, we’ll say so here before it takes effect, and tell signed-in users in the app where we can. If you don’t agree with the new terms, you can stop using @Work and delete your account.
General#
- These terms are the whole agreement between you and us about @Work.
- If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies.
- If we don’t enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
- We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to someone else, for example if @Work is sold, as long as your rights under them aren’t reduced.
- Only you and we have rights under these terms.
Law and disputes#
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts, and the mandatory consumer protections of where you live still apply.
If you have a problem, please contact us first at support@useatwork.com and we’ll try to sort it out.
